Description

A General Motors plant in Ohio became one of the many casualties of the recession, shutting its doors and leaving thousands of locals without jobs. But in 2014, the plant got a surprising resurrection by way of a Chinese billionaire who purchased it to house a Fuyao Glass America factory. Local blue-collar workers were rehired, but with a twist: They found themselves now working alongside Chinese employees. The culture clash hits almost immediately by way of very conflicting work styles. In a rapidly evolving field, the push and pull of how best to efficiently deliver products becomes the main point of contention. Through amazing fly-on-the-wall access, Academy Award–nominated filmmakers Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert (this year's Outstanding Achievement Award recipient) bring audiences deep into the factory, from top management decision-making to ground-level labourers working to reconcile their approaches to manufacturing.
