Description

In China, urban women who are still unmarried at the age of 27 are deemed sheng nu: leftover. Their successful careers mean little in the eyes of their families and society if they can't quickly find a husband. Indeed, the more educated a Chinese woman becomes, the more difficult it is for her to find a life partner, a situation all the more absurd given there are 20 million more men than women under the age of 30 in China. Shosh Shlam and Hilla Medalia closely follow three women on their grueling quest to find Mr. Right. Pressured to the extreme by their parents, HuaMei and Min attend all the necessary matchmaking events, while Qi openly admits her mother is more excited than she is about her wedding. Will social stigma get the better of their personal desires? Charlotte Selb
