Description

Barred from journalism in his native Yugoslavia, Serbian writer Sreten Božic fled to France in the 1950s, contributed to Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre's publication Les Temps Modernes, and moved to Australia a couple of years later. Today, the 87-year-old still lives on his secluded bush property south of Melbourne, under the pseudonym B. Wongar. Serbian filmmaker Andrijana Stojkovic observes him devotedly caring for his six dingoes while waiting for the publication of his latest novel. When one of his cherished dogs falls sick and the vet suggests putting him down, Wongar looks for help in a different universe. Alluding to his intimate relationship with Aboriginal culture in a dreamy treatment of time and space that blurs conventional boundaries, Stojkovic slowly reveals a personal tragedy that speaks to Australia's shameful colonial past.
