Description

After Rumana Monzur was viciously attacked and blinded by her husband in her hometown of Dhaka, Bangladesh, she refused to give up. Untying the Knot follows her inspiring journey to Vancouver where she pursues a law degree at UBC and the stories of three other women struggling in similar situations. An exposé of abusive relationships and marriage in Bangladesh—and the courageous women standing up to the social codes that oppress them—this documentary is an empowering testament to their strength, resilience and relentless pursuit to change their fates on their own terms.

Followed by a conversation with film subject Rumana Monzur.
