Description

Banned in the US for nearly four decades, Franco Rosso’s incendiary ‘80s reggae drama is finally being resurrected for the world to see. An unfiltered look at black culture in Thatcher-era South London, Babylon follows a young dancehall DJ (played by Brinsley Forde, frontman of landmark British reggae group Aswad) as he pursues his musical ambitions, battling fiercely against xenophobia, employers, police, and the far-right National Front party. With its star-studded reggae, dub and lover's rock soundtrack, and smoky doc-influenced cinematography by Oscar-winner Chris Menges (The Killing Fields), the film—raw, fearless, and all-too relevant in 2019—has earned legendary cult status alongside Jamaican jam classics like The Harder They Come and Rockers.

Arrive early as we kick off the night with a DJ and drink specials.
