MacFunky Productions Film Festival is a student and crowd funded film festival showcasing three films created by students from Toronto Metropolitan University. This film festival was made possible thanks to generous donors and the hard work of numerous students. The festival showcases three unique films, all addressing mental health in young adults and the experience of growing up. A large portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to CAMH to support those struggling with mental health and addictions.

Renascence | D: Cindy Tang

Renascence is a science-fiction drama about Clara, a 22-year-old headstrong woman, who finds out her terminally ill grandmother's routined hospital procedure actually involves leaving her for another time-line (parallel universe). Knowing the procedure is irreversible, she must convince her grandmother to stay. This short film explores themes of familial love, rebirth, and the afterlife.

How TO: Handle With Care | D: Hwanjoe Yu

How TO: Handle With Care is a documentary style film about the past three years of Clancy Talbott’s life focusing on his relationship with the City of Toronto. The film strives to give grounded relationships and life advice well recounting a very hectic and challenging story of love. The film is a collection of dramatic stories about Clancy's experiences with isolation, depression and loss. Rather than focusing or telling these stories verbatim, this film finds more lighthearted ways to communicate the same feelings with comedic "How To" segments incorporated throughout.

Flora & Fauna | D: Avery Woods

Flora & Fauna blurs the line betweeen technology and reality, allowing viewers to choose the trajectory of Nell Ashford's life. Playing back core moments and memories stored on VHS tapes, Nell must reflect on the past and the decisions they made. After meeting the fauna to his flora, Nell must navigate how to grow and how to let go. This premiere will showcase a director's cut for one trajectory of Nell's life.
